Explaining our Math Creations with 2-D and 3-D shapes
Using our own drawings, manipulatives and the educreations app on the ipads we are learning to draw shapes as well as explain our math thinking and knowledge by recording our explanations. Below are some of the recordings.
Some examples of our lessons
One thing were were asked to do is draw our own shapes on the virtual whiteboard and then explain how we knew it was the shape we thought it was. We needed to try to use Math vocabulary as well as tell the listener as much information as possible.
Another thing we were asked to do is to build a pattern/picture using blocks and explain our pattern by identifying which shapes were part of the picture.
We know that Math is everywhere! We also know that everything in real life in the world around us is made of shapes. We drew our own pictures and got to explain the shapes that we could find in our pictures.
Communicating our thinking in Math is important. We will keep using this creative tool to help build our Math communication.
